BANGOR, Maine — A Bangor woman was sentenced Wednesday for stealing from a tribal organization.

The tribal organization was her employer, the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Maine said in a news release.

A U.S. district judge sentenced 55-year-old Angelia Holt to three years of probation and ordered her to pay $27,979.78 in restitution, according to the release.

Court records show Holt stole over $27,000 from her employer by using a credit card that was issued to another employee for unauthorized personal expenses between June 2017 and April 2021. Holt also altered the invoices to conceal the theft, the release stated.

"Holt was employed as an accounting clerk for the organization," the release said.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
