Two people have been arrested in connection with a shooting investigation in Westbrook.
Police responded to a call around 8 p.m. Wednesday about shots being fired in the area of 290 Cumberland St. When officers arrived at the scene, they secured the area and gathered evidence that appeared to match the reports, prompting an investigation, Westbrook police said Friday in a news release.
No injuries were reported in the incident. However, bullets did appear to have struck a nearby residence, but police indicated they did not suspect that location to be tied to the apparent shooting, calling it "uninvolved."
Willie Banks, 41, of Westbrook was arrested the night of the apparent shooting. Banks has been charged with aggravated reckless conduct and illegal possession of a firearm.
Nadira Thomas, 27, of Casco was arrested Thursday afternoon. Thomas has been charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, domestic violence criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, aggravated criminal trespass, and illegal possession of a firearm.
Westbrook police said the investigation was ongoing, and additional charges were expected.
