Ellsworth City Council places city manager on paid administrative leave

Councilors voted 6-0 on Monday during an executive session.

ELLSWORTH, Maine — Ellsworth City Council placed its city manager on paid administrative leave Monday, during an executive session.

The council convened on March 4 to address confidential personal matters, regarding City Manager Glenn Moshier and voted 6-0 to place him on paid administrative leave. according to a city press release from Communications Specialist Maura Condon.

Councilor Tammy Mote was absent from the vote.

City Planner Matthew Williams is the interim city manager for the time being. Pending the ratification of the employment contract at a March 18 city council meeting, Charles Pearce will become the next City Manager starting April 1, according to the release.

"Due to state law restrictions, both the City Council and the City are unable to disclose specifics about the confidential personnel discussions," the release stated.

A follow-up Special City Council meeting will be held on March 11 at 5 p.m. This meeting will also be held in executive session to discuss personnel matters, according to the release.
