BOOTHBAY, Maine — The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay has officially reopened for the 2024 season.

The gardens returned for the 16th year Wednesday and there are several events planned for the summer and beyond.

Upcoming events include family favorites like the Caterpillar Lab and Chewonki’s Traveling Natural History Programs among many tours, classes, and workshops. The whimsical giant troll sculptures by Thomas Dambo will remain at the gardens this season.

The gardens will also be welcoming back the Indigo Arts Alliance for its "Deconstructing the Boundaries" symposium which will feature the unveiling of two new sculptures.

Visitors will be able to enjoy its newly-renovated café.

The gardens' annual light show, Gardens Aglow, will return for the 10th year this fall with an enchanted forest theme.

The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is New England's largest botanical garden and home to thousands of different types of plants across more than 325 acres.

Tickets bought online cost $24 for adults and $10 for children 3-17, with discounts for seniors, veterans, students, and families, according to the gardens' website. Children under 3 can get in for free. Tickets purchased on-site cost $2 more.
