PORTLAND, Maine — If you are looking for a way to support the families of victims of the Lewiston mass shootings, Friday night in Portland Aura will be donating all of the money it raises to the Lewiston Auburn Area Response Fund.
From 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., breakfast will be served at the Aura Sports Grill. People can also call and order it for pick-up. The breakfast menu includes avocado toast, breakfast sandwiches, and breakfast burritos with sponsored coffee from Coffee By Design.
Lewiston T-shirts will be available all day for $18, as well as more than 40 auction items for people to stop by Aura and submit their bids until the end of the day.
The big concert features the group Recycled Percussion, Don Campbell, Viva the Sensation, Michael Corleto, Laurie Jones, and Brit Martin, who are donating their time and talent. The security team is also donating its security guards' time for the concert.
Aura owner Krista Newman said it has been a real community effort, with many sponsors making the event a reality.
Tickets for the concert start at $18 and go up to $25.
Newman said the event is all about healing through music, and supporting the impacted families.
"We really hope that they send some love and prayers to the victims of Lewiston while they are here, and some healing vibes for our community together, andIi think if everyone comes together and thinks positively and helps one another, it doesn't make anything go away or change any facts but it does give you a little bit of hope for the future," she explained. "And we have Recycled Percussion, and they are a band out of New Hampshire. They play ladders and all different types of things from life, and their motto is chaos and kindness.. That you find kindness in chaos, which seemed really appropriate."
Newman said says the event is for all ages. You don't have to be 18 or older to go to the show.
Everything that Aura makes from the breakfast, concert ticket sales, T-shirts, auction items, and food and beverages will go to the Lewiston Auburn Area Response Fund.
Some of the auction items include a Lewiston Storng cornhole set, concert tickets from Bangor to Boston, Lainey Wilson concert suite for two with a hotel/dinner for two at Timber in Bangor, $150 in heating from Dead River, a fire pit, a pampered chef, a beautiful necklace, a window cleaning service, spa treatments, and a lot more.
Tickets for the concert are available online here.
