LIVERMORE, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Parents of a 3 year old were arrested after their child was found wandering alone and unclothed on Route 4 Saturday morning.
The Androscoggin County Sheriff's Department said in a news release that the dispatch received several 9-1-1 calls around 10:30 Saturday morning saying a young child was wandering on the road alone.
Deputies arrived on scene to find passers-by had stopped and were tending to a young girl with an 18-month-old boy. The children were transported to the hospital, evaluated and released into the custody of Maine DHHS.
Officials said Courtney Abbott, 32-years-old of Livermore, was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs, violation of conditions of release and obstructing government revocation.
Later in the day, Kerry Ross, 40-years-old of Livermore was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, trafficking in a scheduled drug, violations of conditions of release and obstructing government administration, said officials.
Both parents are being held in the Androscoggin County Jail and will be arraigned on charges Monday.
