Biddeford mayor re-elected after months of controversy

ID=75136908BIDDEFORD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- After months of sexual abuse allegations and heated city council meetings, residents of Biddeford have decided to stick with the man who was in charge through it all.

Alan Casavant will remain in office for 2 more years.

He was re-elected to serve a third term tonight, winning 63-percent of the city's vote over challenger Daniel Parenteau's 37-percent.

Casavant attributes his success in the is race to people of Biddeford wanting to move on from the controversy that has plagued the city. He hopes now that the election is over, the focus will shift back to finding ways to make Biddeford a better place for businesses and families to settle.
