AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Augusta Police have charged a man for the robbery of a Quick Mart on Western Avenue.
On Saturday night, Augusta Police responded to a report of a robbery at the Quick Mart. Police say a man had entered the convenience store demanding money and threatening the clerk with a gun. The man never displayed a gun; he only told the clerk that he had a weapon on his person. Police searched the area but were unable to apprehend the suspect.
On Thursday, police were able to identify and arrest Corey Ross Swift, 27, who is a transient. He has been charged with robbery and is currently being held at the Kennebec County Jail on $10,000 bail.
Police say tips from the public were vital to the arrest of Swift.
