(NEWS CENTER) -- 30 years ago today, seven lives were lost when the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded in the skies over Cape Canaveral Florida.
One of the people aboard was a school teacher from New Hampshire, Christa McAuliffe.
It was the teacher in space program that led NEWS CENTER to closely cover this shuttle mission.
NEWS CENTER anchor Pat Callaghan was on site in Florida to report on the tragedy as details continued to unfold about the accident.
