AUGUSTA, Maine — The price of heating oil has fallen again in Maine over the past few weeks.
The Governor's Energy Office said on Wednesday the average statewide cash price is now $2.96, which is 5 cents less than early November. Kerosene is now $3.55 per gallon, down 3 cents from two week ago. Propane is $2.89, a penny more than two weeks ago, and the same price as early November.
Prices remain more expensive than last year, when the average heating oil price was $2.59 and kerosene and propane were also both a little less expensive.
The energy office says crude oil prices have slipped, but heating fuel prices aren't decreasing at the same rate. It says that has to do with local and global market forces.
