Maine's berries and potatoes on the menu for Open Farm Day

Farms all across Maine are open to show the amazing goods you can get at your local grower

WELLS, Maine — Farms across Maine that provide everything from hops for beer to grass-fed beef are opening to the public for a day.

Sunday is Maine's Open Farm Day, which provides residents and visitors with a chance to learn about the state's agriculture. The organizers of the event say the number of farms participating will be the most in three years.

The farms participating in the day will be from all over the state. Participants include Doak's Maple Ridge Farm, a sheep and chicken operation in Woodland, near the Canadian border in far northern Maine. More than 300 miles away, Spiller Farm in the southern Maine town of Wells will provide hayrides through acres of corn.
