For sale: Castle house in Turner

The Ruperts built the home in 1990 down the road from their farm.

TURNER, Maine — A one-of-a-kind home, fit for royalty, has gone up for sale in Maine.

Bill Rupert told his wife, Dot, he planned to build a stone castle on their property back in 1990.

The Ruperts own a berry farm less than a mile away, along the aptly named Strawberry Avenue.

Bill recently passed away, and Dot decided to put the home up for sale. It was originally built to rent out and to help showcase the spiral staircases Bill used to sell, but Dot said Bill fell in love with it and told her the family had to move in.

"He was the kind of guy who liked to try things and didn’t want anyone to tell him how to do things," Dot laughed. "So, he invented this house."

The property was originally listed for $325,000. David Foster, the realtor managing its sale, told NEWS CENTER Maine he expected to close a deal within the next few weeks.
