HALLOWELL, Maine — Maine's Public Advocate is calling on utility regulators to take another look at Central Maine Power's billing system.
Barry Hobbins made the request after an article appeared in the Maine Sunday Telegram.
The article said company officials pushed to get a new system online without doing their due diligence to make sure bugs would be kept to a minimum.
Thousands of CMP customers have complained about seeing their bills increase dramatically -- sometimes by hundreds of dollars a month -- after the new billing system was instituted back in October of 2017.
The Maine PUC has scheduled hearings in July about the ongoing complaints.
