POLAND, MAINE, Maine — Poland Spring, part of the Nestlé Waters North America family, announced that all of its factories have received certification under the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) International Water Stewardship Standard.

Poland Spring’s Maine factories are located in Poland, Kingfield, and Hollis, all of which have achieved the highest level of certification, which is platinum.

With these certifications, the Poland Spring factories are the only sites in the state of Maine that have been certified under the rigorous AWS Standard.

According to AWS, certification demonstrates that a site has successfully completed each of the steps in the AWS Standard

AWS says that achieving their certification brings demonstrable benefits in regards to relationships with customers, increased investor confidence, strengthened social license to operate, brand perception, and dialogue with regulators and policymakers.

Poland Spring cites several of their efforts that have contributed to their platinum certification. The company lists its efforts to manage surrounding forests to conserve natural ecosystems, collecting and sharing data on snow to better understand flood risks, and taking part in Maine education initiatives.
