SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — Attention, Maine booklovers! A bookstore giant is slated for South Portland.
The state's third Barnes & Noble location is scheduled to open early this summer, a company spokesperson told NEWS CENTER Maine. The new store will occupy the former Bed Bath & Beyond space on Running Hill Road near the Maine Mall.
It will be approximately 25,000 square feet and will feature its new, refocused design that's described by the New York Times as back-to-basics and inspired by indie bookstores.
The new store will house a Barnes & Noble Café, and carry books, toys, games, puzzles, and gifts, with a "reimagined music/vinyl section," the spokesperson said.
The South Portland location comes in addition to stores in Augusta, and as of July last year, Brunswick.
