Stained glass windows from closed church find a new home

The chapel at a future hospice facility in Presque Isle will feature stained glass windows that once graced a church in Portland

PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- St. Patrick Church is gone, but its stained glass windows have found a new home.

The new owner is the Aroostook House of Comfort. It is a hospice facility that is slated to open next year in Presque Isle.

The facility will include a chapel where the windows will be installed. Operators began soliciting for the windows two years ago. Their request was finally answered by Our Lady of Hope Parish. It donated several windows that were salvaged when St. Patrick Church in Portland closed in 2013.

The windows were preserved for the last several years by parishioners. Their caretakers handed them over to representatives from the hospice on Saturday for transportation.
