Fetch ME a Home: Meet Karla at the Meow Lounge in Westbrook

Karla is a 2-year-old cat from Spirits Place cat sanctuary in St. Albans. She's staying at the Meow Lounge in Westbrook for more exposure to get adopted.

WESTBROOK, Maine — At 2-years-old, Karla is looking for her forever home. She's living right now at the Meow Cat Lounge in Westbrook, which works with area shelters to feature adoptable cats in a comfortable and convenient setting.

People can book appointments to just sit in the lounge with homework, a book, some snacks and hang out with cats that are available for adoption. The Meow Cat Lounge does accept walk-ins, but reserving a spot will guarantee you access to the space. There are also events including belly dancing classes and pottery at the lounge, and you can book your own private events there.

The Meow Lounge offers a unique way to interact with cats before you adopt them in a space that might be a little more comfortable for them and for you.

Karla is available for adoption through the cat sanctuary, Spirits Place in St. Albans. You'll want to fill out an adoption application on the sanctuary's website.

Anne Beal, founder of Meow Lounge, said she's surprised Karla hasn't been adopted yet, based on her sweet disposition, and the fact that she loves a good lap cuddle. I can confirm Karla is very soft, and she snuggled right into my lap after taping.

Spirits Place is a cat sanctuary in St. Albans that does a lot for its community and its cats. Here is their mission statement:

Spirits Place engages grassroots compassion, education, and creativity to elevate animal welfare and quality of life in our community by promoting and assisting in the spaying/neutering, medical care, and compassionate management of stray, abandoned, feral, and community cats. We assist under-served families with spay/neuter, veterinary care, humane education and resources to help them retain their pets: provide shelter and temporary foster care as needed: find loving homes for adoptable animals in our care: and provide longer-term space for animals that may not be ready for adoption and find themselves homeless for a variety of reasons. Our philosophy is that while not everyone can find a home, everyone can have a life.
