Fetch ME a Home: Meet Bobbie, the 11-month-old rat terrier

Bobbie is in a foster home through Passion for Pets Rescue. You can meet her or learn more about adopting her on their website.

BRUNSWICK, Maine — Bobbie is an 11-month-old rat terrier mix, rescued from the south.

She's in foster care right now through Passion For Pets Rescue in Greater Brunswick and is one of the sweetest dogs we've had in our studio in a while. She sat patiently on my lap while we talked with Janet Heard, who's with the rescue organization.

Heard told us Bobbie was a stray found in Mississippi and then put in a high-kill shelter before she was rescued by their southern partners and brought to Maine. Bobbie is now in foster care, and her foster family recently took her out on a boat, which they said she handled really well. She loves toys and stuffed animals and playing with her foster siblings.

Her foster family said she sleeps through the night without a problem and has no accidents in the house, in fact, she really enjoys being praised for going potty outside, like the good girl she is. She would do best in a home without cats but loves other dogs.

She walks well on a leash but does need some redirection throughout the walk like many distracted puppies do. Beware, she does still have the puppy nibbles, but a toy to redirect her chewing works well.

You can meet Bobbie Saturday, July 20, during a meet-and-greet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at PetSmart in Scarborough.

"Come meet and snuggle the dogs and talk to our volunteers about what's involved in fostering and maybe go home with a dog if you are an approved applicant!" the Passion For Pets Rescue website states.
