LINCOLN, Maine — Three adorable Australian Shepherd mix puppies are looking for their forever homes. Brothers Dunkin, Horton, and Starbuck, known as the "Coffee Kids," are up for adoption through Australian Shepherds Furever, a national nonprofit with a branch in Maine.
The three lovable 12-week-old pups are looking for separate homes to be adopted into. The three brothers were rescued from a shelter in Oklahoma and brought to Maine. Australian Shepherds Furever does not operate a shelter or kennel and is all home-based.
Australian Shepherds are loyal outdoor enthusiasts and love to be out on walks, hikes, bike rides, and more with their owners. The "Coffee Kids" are looking to be in a home with owners who have an active lifestyle and can bring the pups along on their activities.
"Starbuck looks like he's going to be a runner," ASF regional representative Susan Mullaney said. "Dunkin, I think is going to be a fetcher, and an all-around companion in the pickup truck going on-site with his owner. And the little guy, whose name is Horton, we're not quite sure. Right now, he's following his brothers around."
If you're interested in these pups, you're asked to fill out an application on the ASF website, which will be sent to local representatives in Maine. Volunteers with ASF will then look to learn more about your lifestyle through an interview process and arrange a meet and greet.
"The most important thing is that their owner finds something that they like to do, and the dog likes to do, and they just do that. Because these folks will do a task consistently once they train them, they'll just keep right on doing it. They're smart like that," Mullaney said.
