BANGOR, Maine — Meet Smitty! This adorable, energetic pup is looking for his forever home. Smitty is up for adoption at the Bangor Humane Society (BHS).
"This friendly, good-natured guy has come out and he's ready to find his new home," Kathryn Ravenscraft, the director of development and communication at BHS, said.
The 1.5-year-old mixed-breed male has been at BHS for a few months. He previously had been in homes that just weren't quite the right fit.
He's looking to be one of the only pets in the home. Smitty does alright with other pets but doesn't want to be in a house full of other animals.
Smitty would also prefer to be in a home without any young children. He can take a little time to adjust to new settings, but the staff at BHS said that he's a lovable pup if you can take the time to help him adjust.
"Be ready to go at his pace with meeting new people and going new places, but once he is settled in, this is an awesome dog," Ravenscraft said.
Smitty would be the perfect pup for a dog owner with lots of energy and patience. He'd make a great companion for a hiker and somebody who loves playing outdoors.
You can learn more by visiting the Bangor Humane Society at 693 Mt. Hope Ave. in Bangor. BHS is open Monday through Friday from 1-6 p.m. and Saturday from 12-6 p.m.
Bangor Humane Society's biggest fundraiser of the year, Paws on Parade, is also right around the corner. The fundraiser and festivities will be held Saturday, Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Husson University. The organization hopes to raise $115,000 to help animals at their shelter.
