WESTBROOK, Maine — At just over two months old, Coriander and his littermates are looking for their forever homes.
The 'Spice Puppies'—as they've been named by the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland (ARLGP)—are available for adoption through the rescue in Westbrook. There are 10 of these bluetick coonhound-mix puppies all looking for love and attention.
The breed is often known for its friendly personality and was bred to hunt. The ARLGP expects these puppies to grow to anywhere between 60-80 pounds. Coriander is a male dog, and the rescue recommends doing your homework on both the breed and puppy training to make sure you're ready to take him or any of his siblings home.
"We ask that all human and canine members of the household make the trip into the ARLGP to meet the puppy to make sure that it is a great match. Our Canine Adoption Counselors will also be happy to talk with you about introducing your new puppy to any resident felines. We'll also provide information on puppy training and socialization, as well as recommend other available dogs if it turns out that they might be a better match for your family and lifestyle," the ARLGP's website explains.

The Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland is located at 127 Landing Road in Westbrook and is open for adoptions between 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day, except Wednesdays.
The ARLGP is hosting a few fundraisers to help them cover the costs of rescues and room and board for all of the animals they help throughout the year.
On August 12 you can support the ARLGP through its Puttin' Fore Paws golf scramble at Point Sebago Resort, there is still room to sign up to take part in that.
Ales for Tales will kick off on September 14 and 15, where you can sample local brews while mingling with fellow animal lovers and their dogs, which makes the event so special. But expect changes this year—details to come.
