Remembering Jack Palmer, famed Dysart’s 'buttery, flaky' advertisement star

The Maine celebrity will be remembered for the laughs and smiles he inspired, beyond the advertisement from which so many know him.

HERMON, Maine — At least 9.6 million people have seen Jack Palmer and his wife Sonja, struggle to describe Dysart's "buttery, flaky" chicken pot pies in a viral video. The Hermon combo restaurant-truck stop they would frequent almost daily is somber after word of Jack's passing spread.

Over the weekend, Dysart's reposted a message shared by Ric Tyler announcing Jack had passed away.

"He will be missed," is the resounding sentiment amongst those that knew him.

Lynette Daughtery served the Palmers Monday through Thursday morning, week after week, coming to know them well.

"7:30 a.m. I had their cups, their silverware on the table. Two napkins, two butter knives, and a spoon to put ice in his coffee," she said.

That coffee, he preferred lukewarm, was accompanied with a chocolate glazed donut.

While 9.6 million people may not have known Jack personally, the kindness and comical humor which brought him fame was genuine.

"That man always had a smile on his face. And like I said, his laugh," she said.

The Palmers' routine ways made them easy to find for fans.

"The people that would come in to see them. They were local celebrities. I called them the king and queen," Daughtery said.

14-years old at the time, Jordan Dysart can still vividly recall being on set for the viral ad's filming.

"It was a little bit of a struggle at times. It kept going and going. And you can hear my little sister laughing in the background cause he couldn't get the lines done," he said.

Despite the many fond memories, Jack's absence is a heavy weight.

"They're two very pure human beings. And we are going to miss Jack so much and our hearts are with Sonja," Dysart said.
