AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — A restaurant in Augusta drew hundreds for its biggest fundraiser yet.
Red Barn owner Laura Bendict says she has put on thousands of fundraisers, but hopes this one will be her biggest yet because it honors veterans. All of the proceeds from Monday's fundraiser go to Honor Flight Maine, a nonprofit that brings WWII and other veterans to Washington D.C. to see the memorials of the wars they fought in.
Benedict donated all the food for this event, so those who come can pay whatever they want for a meal.
For organizers, they say the event is about respect and remembering those who sacrificed for our country.
