MAINE (NEWS CENTER) -- When the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast back in 1621, they probably had no idea they were starting what would later become a national holiday and they could probably not foresee how the feast would be transformed.
Thanksgiving is all about showing our gratitude but for many it also rings in the beginning of a busy shopping season, that last year alone, was worth more than $630 billion in the United States.
So what we really want to know is...what stores will be open on Thanksgiving and Black Friday?
In Maine, despite many national ads for Big Box stores, the only store open on Thanksgiving is: L.L. Bean.
For Black Friday:
Target: Midnight – 11 p.m.
Macy’s: Midnight – 10 p.m.
JCPenney: Midnight – 10 p.m.
Best Buy: Midnight -10 p.m.
Walmart: Midnight – Midnight
Cabela’s: 5 a.m .– 10 p.m.
