PORTLAND, Maine — Surrounded by her colleagues on The Morning Report, journalist Hannah Yechivi said goodbye to all the viewers in Maine who have watched her for the last four and a half years.
"It's a lot of trust, and I appreciate the opportunity you guys gave me to be in your homes," Hannah expressed to viewers, holding a tissue in her hand for tears.
Hannah began her tour with NEWS CENTER Maine at WLBZ in Bangor when she was fresh out of college. There, she began cutting her journalism teeth. Within two years she was moved to the Portland newsroom, where she teamed up with photographer Tom Phillips to cover the early morning news. While Tom works with Hannah on many stories and live shots, she also shoots, writes, and edits her own stories, several of which have been nominated for an Emmy.
"It’s been a true honor for the past 4.5 years to have gotten the opportunity to work with the best news team in the market, and to have met hundreds of incredible Mainers who allowed me to share their stories," Hannah Yechivi said. "I can’t say 'thank you' enough for those who supported me, mentored me, pushed me, trusted me, welcomed me into their homes, and for showing me “the way life should be!”
Hannah will be moving to warmer temperatures and closer to family, where she will work as a morning reporter in Miami.
"Always smiling. Always upbeat. Always positive," chief meteorologist Todd Gutner reminisced.
"I’ll truly miss Maine, its beauty, and its incredible people. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to my newsroom family and to everyone at home!" Yechivi said.
Hannah Yechivi's last day on NEWS CENTER Maine was Friday, April 12th.
