NEWRY, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- 6-year-old Salma just beat cancer, and to celebrate she asked Make-A-Wish to take her to Maine to build a snowman.
Salma lives in Florida, but has always wanted to see the snow in Maine. Specifically, she's always wanted to build a snowman.
On Sunday, Make-A-Wish Maine granted Salma's wish. Salma and her family spent a week at Sunday River, where she got a ski lesson, went snow tubing, ice skating, and of course built a snowman.
Salma's mom, Elizabeth, said her daughter couldn't get enough of the snow when she saw it for the first time.
"She touched it, and touched it again. She was in a state of disbelief that what she'd longed to play in for so long was at her fingertips," said Elizabeth. "You would have thought she has gold dust in her hands."
Salma returns home on Thursday, but she and her family had a week they will never forget.
