SHAPLEIGH, Maine — Officials in Maine respond to all sorts of wildlife calls, but rarely do those calls involve 8-foot snakes.
Deputy Jonathan Marshall of the York County Sheriff's Office responded Friday to Shapleigh Corner Road in Shapleigh for an animal complaint, the sheriff's office said in a social media post. When he got to the scene, he found a boa constrictor.
Marshall secured the snake in his vehicle to get it out of the cold temperatures, which can be deadly to the animal, the sheriff's office said. The Maine Warden Service was then contacted to retrieve the snake
"If you know the owner of this animal, you are asked to call 207-324-1111 and ask for Deputy Marshall," the sheriff's office said.
