'Heartbroken and devastated': Parrot goes missing during trip to Maine

The owner of a missing parrot named "Duckie" is offering $800 to the person who returns the bird home safe and sound.

OGUNQUIT, Maine — A daytrip to Maine took a turn for the worse for one Massachusetts woman visiting Ogunquit on Saturday.

Sabrina Doyle took her jenday conure parrot "Duckie" on a walk along Marginal Way in Ogunquit. During the walk, something spooked the bird which sent it flying.

“I just never thought it could end in such a heartbreaking tragedy. I just, I can’t even wrap my mind around the fact that I may never see her again," Doyle said.

Doyle said she lost sight of Duckie flying over the ocean toward Ogunquit Beach. Later that day, some people in Portland believed they spotted a parrot that may have been Duckie at Trader Joe's, according to Doyle.

“I’m heartbroken and devastated, and I really just want her home," she said.

Doyle said she takes Duckie on adventures regularly, and the parrot had never flown off before. For the past several days, Doyle has been searching tirelessly for her beloved parrot.

"She's my little companion," she said. “Duckie loves everybody. She has a huge personality. Her nickname is like 'Queen Duckie' because she knows that she’s a little queen.”

Doyle is offering $800 to the person who returns Duckie home safe and sound. Doyle said she's hoping if someone has her, they will do the right thing and return the parrot home.

“She makes you feel really loved, and I’d like to think that she knows how much I love her, and I just really want her home," Doyle said.

Duckie could be anywhere by now; however, Doyle said she's keeping her hopes high. If you have any information on the parrots' whereabouts, you can call Doyle at 617-221-6288.
