WESTBROOK, Maine — For the first time since we brought Fetch ME A Home back into our studios, we have cats! I know a lot of you have been patiently waiting for this moment, and I apologize for the delay. I had to take my allergy medicine first.
We had two stop in, though they are not a package deal. They are in foster care right now at Westbrook's Meow Lounge, founded by Anne Beal, who is also a fill-in producer here at NEWS CENTER Maine.
Anyone can stop into the Meow Lounge and spend time with the cats. Bring a book or a tea, or join in on one of the many activities Beal hosts there, including belly dancing, yoga, and pottery classes.
Beal works with nine shelters in Maine to feature adoptable cats in her café. The idea is someone will come in to relax, fall in love with a feline and maybe take it home as a new family member.
First let's talk about Blake, our mostly white cat. He's about a year and a half, and has a bit of pep in his step. When he visited the studio, he purred nearly the entire time and had no qualms with snuggling up on a lap. He did get a little stir-crazy though, and wanted to explore a little more. If you have a home with other cats, you'll want to try Blake with them first, as there are some he's not a fan of.
Just looking at Tuxie's markings will explain why he landed that name. He's 2 years old and loves a good snuggle on a lap. Tuxie didn't seem bothered by too much in our studio, even when the camera got in nice and close to him. Beal says he seemed to fit right in with the other cats in foster care.
Blake and Tuxie are available through the Houlton Humane Society. You can meet them at the Meow Lounge on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. at 630 Main St. in Westbrook.
