CORINTH, Maine — The Dunkin' on Main Street in Corinth may soon need to install a hitching post.
A group of at least seven horses and riders from DK Drifter Ranch pulled up to the drive-thru this past weekend.
"They're pretty used to seeing us," Kayla Hodgdon, owner of DK Drifter Ranch, told NEWS CENTER Maine. "A lot of times you'll see staff taking videos of us from the window. It's fun."
It's far from the first time riders from the farm have stopped at Dunkin', but it's definitely one of the larger groups to make the pit stop.
"I think because it was so many of us it got the attention," Hodgdon added. "Usually it’s just a couple of us and we get our coffee at the drive-thru and we’re on our way."
Hodgdon said there's a group from the farm that has dubbed themselves the "Tipsy Drifters," and they ride all over Corinth and surrounding towns, sometimes going as many as 20 miles in a day.
"This town is famous for that," Hodgdon explained. "Farmland, farm kids, getting outside, and keeping recreational horses a thing."
No word yet on whether Dunkin' plans to release any "DunKings" saddle pads, but they'd likely be a big hit among this group.
Hodgdon said her family has been in Corinth for about 75 years. Her parents owned Sargent's Riding Stable, and now she and her husband own DK Drifter Ranch.
The farm is hoping to hold kids camps this summer. Hodgdon said the farm plans to have an open house from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, and Sunday, June 2. Families are encouraged to stop by.
