Help find Swayman the baby llama

Acton Animal Control is asking neighbors to help locate a four-month-old llama who is not old enough to be away from its mother.

ACTON, Maine — Baby Swayman, a four-month-old llama, went missing from a farm in Acton three days ago, and officials are asking for the public’s help.

Acton Animal Control took to Facebook Monday afternoon asking neighbors in the Foxes Ridge Road and County Road areas to keep an eye out.

"This young Llama is usually glued to its mother’s hip—always stays very close to her. So this is very unusual. Would be difficult for a predator to take the young Llama as there are several adult Llamas with the young Llama and they are fiercely protective of their young," the post said.

Owners of the farm in Acton have found suspicious footprints near the animal's pen, according to Animal Control Officer Jim Driscoll.

Swayman’s owner wishes to remain anonymous for fear of losing another baby llama. The owner said the baby is very friendly and if you find him, he will greet you with a kiss.

The sheriff’s department has also been notified and the farm owner said her surveillance company is pulling footage, to help solve the mystery.

If you have any information about baby llama you can reach Officer Driscoll by calling or texting 207-206-6065.
