SKOWHEGAN (NEWS CENTER Maine) — When Skowhegan got the 2018 Moose Permit Lottery, Main Street Skowhegan swung into action.
They created a Skowhegan Moose Festival.
It will be a weekend-long festival featuring outdoor-themed exhibits, demonstrations, Axe Women Loggers of Maine, monster truck rides, kids' activities, local food, live music and a moose-calling competition.
There will be an open division and one for kids. However, everybody is invited to participate Saturday at 1:45 p.m.
"We're going to break the Guinness World Record for the most people calling moose simultaneously," said Kristina Cannon of Main Street Skowhegan.
The current record is 995, so they are hoping they can gather a thousand people on Saturday.
The event starts Friday at 2 p.m. and ends Sunday morning.
A highlight of the event is a concert by Phil Vassar. His opening act will be Bryan White.
