(NEWS CENTER) -- Astronaut Chris Cassidy toured Maine speaking to more than four thousand high school students. Cassidy spoke to schools in York, South Portland, Cumberland and Fort Kent.

Husson University bussed junior high students from fourteen area junior highs to hear the astronaut. Cassidy also spoke at an M. I. T. Alumni Luncheon and the Butterfield Memorial Speaking Series at Trinity Episcopal Church in Portland.

Cassidy, who spent 166 days in space during 2013, was on his second space mission.

This time he feels he "lived" in space making this journey very different from the two weeks he spent on the Space Station as part of ITS-127.

Cassidy says he remembers himself as "an average Maine kid" who has gotten into a "very interesting career."

Cassidy is a graduate of the Naval Academy and holds a Master's from M. I. T. He spent ten years in the Navy SEALSbefore becoming an astronaut.

He has spent 181 days in space including six space walks that took him outside the capusle for more than thirty-one hours.
