Sam Rogers is the Weekend Evening Anchor and a Multiskilled Journalist at NEWS CENTER Maine, in Portland. He started his tenure at NCM as an 'MSJ' at the Bangor station in September 2019.
After nearly two years in that station, Sam moved to the Portland newsroom where he continues to cover business, politics, events, and sports stories.
He has since self-appointed himself as the newsroom's 'Director of Morale', helping spread positive energy and organizing social events for the station. No one has disputed his right to that title.
A Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, native, Sam loves to represent his hometown and the Worcester area whenever he gets the chance.
He comes to Maine after four years in New Hampshire, where he was a 2019 graduate of the University of New Hampshire.
At UNH, Sam was the sports director at WUNH, the campus radio station. Sam called UNH hockey, football, basketball, and lacrosse games as a play-by-play broadcaster. Sam also was a sports staff writer for the school paper covering the hockey and basketball beats.
Sam knew he wanted to join the broadcasting world since he attended a summer camp called ‘Sports Center for Kids’ in his hometown. The camp gave students the chance to learn how to research and write a news story, while also giving them editing, shooting, and anchoring experience on TV. Sam attended the camp from second grade up until high school.
If you don’t see him on TV, he is probably playing golf, playing pond hockey, or exploring some of Maine’s best breweries.
