Crews battle cement truck fire on Interstate 95 in Carmel

The driver was not injured in the incident, Maine State Police said.

CARMEL, Maine — Crews responded to the scene of a fully-involved cement truck fire on Interstate 95 in Carmel Wednesday morning. 

Maine State Police said in a Facebook post that a concrete pumping truck out of Plymouth was headed southbound on I-95 in Carmel when the engine compartment caught fire. 

The driver of the truck pulled over, and Carmel Fire Department crews were able to put out the flames, according to police. 

The driver was not injured in the incident, police said. 

Traffic was diverted at mile marker 174 while crews responded. The passing lane is reportedly open. 

Bouchard's Towing is at the scene to remove the truck. Removal is expected to take several hours, police said.

Crews are dealing with a fully involved cement truck fire on I-95 at MM 174 southbound in Carmel. Traffic is being diverted at 174 off of the Interstate. Passing lane is now open.
