PYEONGCHANG, South Korea (NEWS CENTER Maine) — Bethel native Troy Murphy successfully qualified for the men's moguls finals Friday in PyeongChang, South Korea.
The 25-year-old freestyle skier's run during round 1 qualifying at Phoenix Park was seen live in the U.S. Thursday night on NBC.
Murphy finished fourth out of 30 competitors with a score of 80.95 — 14.51 for time, 14.75 for air and 51.7 for turns. The top 10 auto-advanced to Monday's finals.
An additional 10 from the remaining field of 20 non-qualifiers will attempt to make the finals in a second qualifying round, also being held on Monday.
There are three rounds of men's moguls finals scheduled for Monday: 7 a.m., 7:35 a.m. and 8:10 a.m. ET.
