Old Port Festival draws 50K people

PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — Portland's Old Port Festival drew around 50,000 people Sunday.

It was the festival's 43rd year, and it once again featured a parade, rides and music.

Festival organizers said the event mainly draws locals from Maine, but also some folks from nearby New England states.

It also drew many young people and families with kids, one of whom shared his favorite parts of the day with NEWS CENTER.

"We came here...we watched the circus and...doing this right now," said attendee Elias Fernandez.

"I think Portlanders — tried and true Portlanders — love this event. This is the 43rd year, so they come back year after year," said Casey Gilbert, Executive Director of Portland Downtown. "It also gives people a chance to experience Portland if they haven't experienced it before."
