BANGOR (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- A year after millions of people participated in Women's Day marches worldwide, supporters are back at it.
The demonstrations were in response to the Trump Administration. Protesters rallied the day after President Trump's inauguration. Many Mainers went to D.C. where thousands protested in the name of equal rights for women and other marginalized people.
This year, supporters will try to help keep that spark alive. In Maine there are several rallies being held in solidarity with other movements around the country.
Organizers are expecting a fairly decent turnout at the State House in Augusta Saturday morning. Jennifer Jones, of March Forth Maine, planned the event called Women's March 2.0: Power to the Polls.
"We are energizing people. We are encouraging them," Jones said.
Other rallies are also planned for Saturday. That includes demonstrations in Bangor, Brunswick Bar Harbor, and Gouldsboro.
