(NEWS CENTER Maine)-- Imagine the un-imaginable. Almost dying but then being saved by total strangers,. That was reality for Scarborough's Liam Somers. Back in October, Somers was riding his bike in his hometown of Bar Harbor. The avid bike racer was going around 23 miles per hour when he slammed into the back of a parked car. He went head first into the rear window and then onto the pavement. A team of people rushed to help including Natalie Yarid, a nurse at Mercy Hospital.
"Liam had asked me at one point while we were in the road if he was going to make it. And, I did not feel 100% confident in saying absolutely, you're going to be fine" Yarid remembers.
Within days of the accident, with Liam on the road to recovery, he and his wife began reaching out to everyone who helped on that day to personally thank them. They were able to find everyone, except for Natalie.
"She was the person that I remember keeping me calm, and saving my life" said Somers.
A few weeks ago, Natalie found out the Somers' were looking for her so she reached out and they all finally met.
Natalie is from South Carolina but she's part of the Somers' family now. They'll be socializing and spending some holidays together. Meanwhile Liam is back on the bike and very grateful for the opportunity and ability to do so.
