Jury finds Luc Tieman guilty of murdering his wife, Valerie
Tieman was found guilty of killing his wife and burying her in a shallow grave behind his parents' home in Fairfield.
(NEWS CENTER Maine) — Luc Tieman was found guilty of murder after jurors deliberated for less than an hour.
On Monday, a jury at the Skowhegan Superior Court found Tieman guilty of murdering his Valerie Tieman back in 2016 after Tieman took the stand to make his closing argument.
Luc Tieman was arrested and charged with killing his wife Valerie Tieman in September of 2016 -- police say he shot her twice in the head before burying her in a shallow grave behind his parents' home in Fairfield with a bag of potato chips, a note with an apologetic tone and other items.

Tieman initially told police Valerie disappeared from the Skowhegan Walmart parking lot after the two had an argument sometime around August 30th. Her parents reported her missing after not hearing from her for several days. Police believe Valerie was killed on or around August 25th -- her body wouldn't be discovered until September 20th, almost a month later. Luc was arrested the next day, two days after he spoke with NEWS CENTER Maine exclusively about her disappearance.

State witnesses in court Wednesday gave a closer look at what life was like for Luc and Valerie Tieman behind closed doors, testifying the couple "used a lot of drugs" and Luc was "telling people he was getting divorced" around the time Valerie was murdered.

Luc's younger brother, Samuel Tieman, took the stand Thursday afternoon to testify against his brother. Luc had told police that Sam had helped him bury Valerie, but Sam told jurors he had nothing to do with it.
