HAMPDEN (NEWS CENTER Maine) – Main Road in Hampden was shut down for several hours Wednesday morning due to a fire.
Crews from nearby towns responded to Hughes Brothers, Inc. at around 5 a.m. after employees reporting to work saw smoke spewing from the excavating company’s garage.
“It’s not good for us. It could put us out of business for a little bit,” the company’s vice president, Ed Hughes said.

Hughes said half of the company's equipment, including trucks and excavators, was damaged.
“Everything hurts. It just disrupts the whole business, but we'll put it back together and go again,” Hughes said.
Fire officials said they were able to put out the flames fairly quickly and nobody was injured.
A cause is still under investigation.
