Bridgton man dies in fire

The 92-year-old man who reportedly lives there is believed dead, but official identification awaits official DNA testing.

PORTLAND, Maine — Fire officials responded to a call Saturday about a fire at 2A Street in Bridgton to find an individual who had been fatally injured. 

When emergency crews arrived at about 10:30 a.m., they reported seeing a man on the lawn who was on fire, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said Sunday in a news release. Officials extinguished the flames, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene, the release stated.

Maurice Langevin, 92, the resident who reportedly lives there, is believed dead, but official identification awaits official DNA testing. The body was brought to the chief medical examiner's office for examination. The house was not damaged in the fire.

Bridgton Fire Department was aided by the Bridgton Police Department, Cumberland County Sheriff's Department, and the state fire marshal's office. 

The fire is being investigated by the state fire marshal's office.
