SACO, Maine — The identity of the driver who was killed Friday in a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer on Route 112 in Saco has been released by emergency officials.
Douglas Emmons, 64, of Biddeford was fatally injured Friday morning when the car he was driving likely crossed the centerline into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer, causing the two to collide head on, Saco police shared Tuesday in an updated news release.
Emmons was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Saco police, Emmons was driving with a license that was suspended for an "adverse medical condition." However, there was no indication in the news release whether the alleged medical condition was a contributing factor to the crash, which remains under investigation.
The road in the area of the crash was closed Friday from about 9 a.m. until about 1:30 p.m., once the scene was cleared.
Maine State Police and Buxton police and fire crews assisted Saco police, fire, and rescue officials at the scene.
