MAXTON, N.C. (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- The search for answers in a Millinocket murder has led investigators to North Carolina.
Following an indictment by the Penobscot County Grand Jury, the U.S. Marshals Service arrested 21-year-old Alexis Locklear in Maxton, N.C. on Thursday morning. The charges of murder and robbery that were filed against her are connected to the shooting death of Wayne Lapierre at his home in Millinocket on Dec. 19. Locklear's transfer to Maine must be approved in a North Carolina court.
Indictments in the case included two other people with ties to Locklear. Her boyfriend, Christopher Murray, was arrested in December. But her father, Tony Locklear, has not been found. Investigators said their search for him is focused in North Carolina and Tennessee.
