Activist group projects on Maine State House: 'Property of the NRA'

AUGUSTA (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- A Maine-based activist group projected an image onto the Maine State House Saturday evening, "Property of the NRA," after a day full of rallies as part of the nationwide gun control movement, "March For Our Lives."

Anita Clearfield, one of the members of Lumen ARRT, organized the projection. Lumen ARRT is the Artists’ Rapid Response Team, which collaborates with more than 40 non-profit, progressive groups to promote social change in Maine. This collective of approximately twelve artists meets monthly to create issue-oriented, socially engaged banners and props.

"Maine itself has a lot of trouble with passing laws that make guns safe," said Anita Clearfield, a member of LumenARRT! "The legislators are afraid to do that. You can see by their ratings with the NRA, who's got an A plus rating, to know whose voted."

"People are watching. People are waiting for them to step up and listen and take part in the conversation," said Nora Tryon, another member of LumenARRT!
